Are you happy with this appointment? I know that alot of RBK fans wanted Nordlie in charge. Will Hoego continue playing with the traditional Rosenborg system?

Time will show... But I don't think he will make any big changes the rest of this season.

Many wanted Nordlie, and he was one of two final candidates for coach from january. Anyway he decided friday to stay at Start.
Høgmo was then the only choice left, and when Hansen left sunday everything had to happen fast.
He was one of the many mentioned on this and other forums. I guess Nordlie or Knut Torbjørn Eggen was the most wanted. Eggen has also been meeting with RBK but I have not heard a reason for leaving him out.

About the tactics of Høgmo he said yesterday that he would bring through the good parts from the old RBK-style and add new elements to the weak parts.
We now face two difficult away matches against Steua and Start in the next 4 days. I guess Høgmo will try to get the best result as possible, as he has not much time to implement new tactics.
What he will go for in the long run I guess we will see in late august and september. After the Start match we have a break of 10 days before the home match against Steua, and there is a new weekend free in early september. After these periods of training we will see more how he will develope the team, allthough the big changes probably won't come before
the winter.

What is the reputation of Hogmo? What sort of coach is he known as? A disciplinarian, tactitian, transfer master?

"Psychologist". Last year Hoegmo wrote a book called "Mental training in football", and this is maybe what the Rosenborg players need. The lack of self-confidence has been far too noticeable this season.

Hoegmo has by the way chosen to rely on the two assistant coaches already present, Bjoern Hansen and Rune Skarsfjord.

"Rosenborg are down in the dumps now, but we have a great chance to create something positive," Høgmo says.

This is partly wrong.. You have to count from the day Ola By Rise was assigned, not sacked..

Høgmo will take a pause for two months.

"It is unfortunate that Per-Mathias has to take a sickness leave, but he needs a pause. All the tasks and challenges at RBK has become such a weight on his shoulders that he feels burned out," club president Terje Svendsen states.

Norwegian law prohibit hiring permanent replacements in the same employment when someone is reported sick. In other words, no new head coach will take over until October, even though Høgmo possibly not will return.

This is a litte worrying though, or is it another way of removing him without actually having to 'fire' him as such?

Who should take over if he doesn't come back?

It is highly unlikely that this is a way to try and remove him.

For now, the assistants Trøum and Henriksen steps up. If he doesn't come back - well, who knows ...

Certainly! But it might be a way for Høgmo to back out. Without having any inside information, I predict it's 50/50 whether he is back in October or not.

Edited:

What an utterly cowardly way to go about it, if this is the case. And in true Rosenborg spirit (nowadays).

This club is a f****ng sewer. Rats and garbage everywhere!

This is bizarre to see at a fully professional club. But, I find it hard to judge the man. I have been coping with depressions for a big part of my life and I know what it can do to you: stress, depression, burn-outs, are a true plague. I have had moments during my life that I had to withdraw from all activities, not for fun but simply to have a bit piece of mind and recover. So I can not judge our coach for this, not after seeing and experiencing myself how fragile our human minds are sometimes. The one thing I may say is that if he knows he has problems in dealing with this pressure, that maybe a role in the board would suit him better while the everyday spotlights are on someone else doing the coach/manager work.

But first of all: I hope our coach will recover well, and I hope he stays at the club. Maybe not in his current role, but still, he did some good work as well and we should not fire someone because of a problem he didn't ask for.

President Svendsen does not rule out the possibility that Høgmo's sick leave might be prolonged.

"It is hard to predict a fixed date for getting well when you're suffering from mental exhaustion. RBK have to act like a responsible employer, and solve any and all problems together with Høgmo," Svendsen says.

Read more: Høgmo's situation still unclear

I personally think it's best if Høgmo's leave is prolonged until mid November. Then he and the club can decide his future.
