Let's say Trondheim or everything further north would be very okay to me. Trondheim, Alta, Kirkenes, Narvik, Tromsø, Longyearbyen, ... _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

You can try the phonebook for any of those places. Just change Municipality:"Tromsø" to Municipality:"Wherever" in the search field. _________________ Restriktive Bever |

May I ask: does Norway have any callcenters where they need international and multilingual staff? I speak 4 languages and worked in a few callcenters, so it may be a good circuit to look in (I know it doesn't pay the best wages, but it'd be handy to get into Norway, once I learnt perfect Norwegian I can look for a better job but the callcenter would be a good way into the country)
These days most big cities have a callcenter. I'm sure Norway must have a few where I may can find some suitable vacancies? _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

Callcenters for international companies are "always" located in low-cost countries, the opposite of Norway... |

Not a single callcenter in countries like Norway, Sweden, Iceland or Greenland? It'd be convenient for me, because they need multilingual staff, so I could start off in my own language and meanwhile learn the local language. _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

There are plenty of callcenters in Norway, but in most of them (customers support at least) you have to speak norwegian in addition to english as (of course) most of the customers are Norwegian. _________________ Mot dumhet kjemper selv gudene forgjeves. |

where can I find the addresses of the callcenters? I'd like to send them my CV, if there's any of them where other languages are needed I can try to apply. _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

I have a uncle living in Hammerfest and I have been there two times.
1.DON't MOVE THERE unless you like LONG LONG winters and lots of snow.
2. It's not unusual to be locked in because of the weather and snow conditions.
3.When it's winter, the light is gone.
4. Not much people, everbody knows everybody.
5. Very ugly and small city because of world war2.
6. Enormous and very beatiful nature and mountains.
7. In summer it can be very hot.
8. Very low education rate.
9. 3 hours with car to nearest city(alta)
10. There is a airport in Hammerfest, but its very expensive flights. |

I am highly fascinated by those cold and isolated places, I at least want to experience it for a year and then see if I want back to the city... So it wouldn't scare me at all, as you say also: beautiful sceneries, that alone makes it worth the experience!
How can I register on that other board? I don't see any option to create an account... _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

That forum is the eight largest forum in the world, if I remember correctly.

They want to verify your identity. Does it have to be a Norwegian number? |

Yes. I entered my UK number but they didn't accept it. When leaving the field empty it gives an error message as well. _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

Is it a sort of general forum for Norway?
It's interesting to see when a country has such a thing... Most don't, it's all spread across smaller boards. _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

you will receive a SMS with the verification code, I need to enter that to activate my account on that forum.
once again, thanks for your help.
I emailed all three of them. They seem very Norway-focussed without any international projects going on, but you never know... He who doesn't dare to jump can also not reach the other end.
Other than that, if I don't have any luck with internet applications, I think I'm going to visit Trondheim and Tromsø in October for some 'live' jobhunting. But let's keep my fingers crossed some of my internet-sent vacancies leads to results _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

It's the forum of Norway's largest newspaper Verdens Gang (VG). You can discuss everything between heaven and earth there.
A friend of mine is the top poster with about 100 000 posts That's crazy. Maybe one of the top posters in the world? |

After some more research, miracle miracle, someone from AETAT replied to me He said situation is not too promising for someone not speaking Norwegian yet, so that I will need lot of luck to find something, even if I come over for a week. But impossible it ain't, he said. He does advise me to translate my CV in Norwegian.
I need a bit of help for that... Is there any good site where I can find translations for educational or professional terms such as 'economics-modern languages' (my education in secondary school), 'librarianship-information science' (education after secondary school), 'callcenter agent' and 'administration and billing duties' (professional experience) etc?
I have an English CV, both in long version (3 pages) and shortened version (1 page) but the guy from AETAT does think I have more chance if I'd translate the whole lot into Norwegian. Fine with me, but it has to be done properly if I don't want to make a fool of myself! _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

Recon and Haavarl speak English really well. Perhaps they could help?
And why not get some beginner's books in Norwegian? Learning new languages is great fun and if you are in trouble everybody on this board both can and want to help you. |

I'd love to fully learn the language. I did take a beginners course when I still lived in Belgium, so I do understand Norwegian a bit already. Jeg snakker lit norsk However, Ireland does not have any school teaching it, so I would need to import a self-training package or order it online. I would love to do that, but I'd need an urgent translation of my CV now as well - for which I better have a bit of help, from a person or a translation tool. I was thinking of ordering myself a self-training language course as well, not sure which are good ones but Amazon should have a few that are made by recognised educational publishers. _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

I was thinking to maybe come to Norway for a week for jobhunting.. now this AETAT staffmember says that without advanced knowledge of Norwegian, I have to forget about finding a job during a week of jobhunting Is it indeed an unrealistic hope?
If so, I guess we'll just travel to some other places while further learning Norsk... But if there's a realistic chance, I'd love to come up and do some applications. _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!
