I was wondering if the idea has been brought up before to start a supportersclub for foreign Rosenborg fans. Kjernen is well organised but all correspondance is in Norwegian. It'd be handy to have a fanclub aimed at the foreign fans as well, or even just a subdivision of Kjernen (or any established fanclub)

Has this idea been brought up before?

I can't speak for Kjernen, as I'm not actually a amember (I know, shame on me and all that), but I'd say I don't think it's ever been brought up before. At least not as a serious issue.

In fact, I think the whole idea of Rosenborg having any sort of fanbase abroad, is a bit of a surprise for us, really. After all, we're not exactly Man U, and Tippeligaen isn't exactly Premier League...

Do you think there are enough supporters abroad to actually generate a need for such a setup?

I don't think that an International supporters' club with membership fees etc. would become a success, but maybe an Internet community could? Actually I think this forum should be the number one spot for you English speaking fans. Wink

Aye, this forum is the perfect hang-out. However, I was thinking of an additional thingy without it having to cost money. For example: if you have only 10 fans in a specific country, you can organise fan nights to watch RBK games on TV sometimes (when broadcasted) and maybe an annual group trip to Lerkendal...

This doesn't need to cost money, a local mailinglist in the specific country would be enough. I would be glad to help out in setting up a British/Irish fan group (maybe a subgroup of Kjernen or so) if there'd be enough interest. About 5 people or so would even be enough, if they can get a few friends interested maybe some of them will also start sympathising with Rosenborg, and then you can start building up a fair group...

It's better than the Premier League! Premier League doesn't have idyllic locations such as the fjords-surrounded Alfheim, it has no away trips along beautiful mountains and fjords, ...

And Man Utd is a cold and emotionless club, their fans are quiet as a mouse and the board cares shit about their fans - they only want cash Neutral

Tippeligaen beats Premier League, on account of superior scenery...

Now that has got to be the entry of the month! 2mas, couldn't we send this fine, upstanding gentleman a CD or t-shirt or something like that, as a prize? Very Happy

Yeah you'll never be like Maccabi Haifa. We own you.

Eventhough you switched off the stadium lights to disrupt our game - twice. You still didn't manage to win. So instead of manipulating other peoples comments, try to get over that we defeated you two years ago.

We don't have as much experience as Rosenborg does, but we are still good but our luck in europe is not that good. We could've beaten Rosenborg, and Malmo, but we always get the red card at the very end which screws it all. It's the 5th game in 4 years we get a red card after leading the whole game.

I know you're not.

So, how are Maccabi Haifa doing in the Israeli league these days?

You better check our league this year, Maccabi Haifa won 11 games in the first round, I'm not talking about the past or shitty teams you have, I'm talking about now, where's Rosenborg? NOWHERE. I needed this good laugh at you.

Green Apes, why is you spend so much of your time in this Rosenborg-forum? It's obvious our club is not to your liking. Wouldn't it be better to spend your energy supporting your own team instead of coming in here talking trash?

Listen, it's been almost two years now I believe. We are done with and over the matches against Maccabi Haifa. In Rosenborg we're trying to look forward these days, and to quote our legendary coach Nils Arne Eggen: The most important matches are the ones not played yet.

I wish your team good luck in the Isreali league, and if you are good enough and deserve it, I'm sure you'll make it to the Champions League.
Now, please let bygones be bygones and move on.

I almost feared my thread would be disrupted by the Palestinian conflict Neutral

Well, this forum is obviously the best place to start with, maybe if all interested people could PM me... then maybe some people affiliated with Kjernen would like to join a possible club as well, if someone could ask there (my Norwegian I'm afraid is not very good, and Kjernen doesn't have an English part)

And I'd love to have that CD or T-shirt Very Happy

I sadly don't have any such stuff. You should consider asking someone in RBK, e.g. borre.gundersen@rbk.no

By the way, it seems like Micha, the webmaster of rosenborg.de, has ideas like you. You should consider contacting him, Gerrit. You can make an EU supporters' club. Smile

As I understand it, many of the leading persons in Kjernen rather fiercely supports the idea that one should support one's local team. Meaning, especially, that Norwegians that support foreign teams - English, most of all - are a sorry lot. And, that to be a true Rosenborg supporter, you should live in or at least be raised in the district of Trøndelag and speak the local dialect.

This goes the other way around as well: If you live in another country, you should support a team from around where you live, instead of bothering with Rosenborg.

In the light of such opinions, I think it would be a guaranteed failure to mention this idea to the board of Kjernen.
