Hirschfeld left out of Canadian squad against USA

Coach Frank Yallop said he did not call up goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld, who plays for Rosenborg in Norway, because he liked the way Kenny Stamatopoulos (Tromso, Norway) played against Spain and Luxembourg.

"And I wanted to take a good look at Greg Sutton again," he added.

"Hirschfeld will be recalled at a later date," Yallop said.

Essediri left ouf of Tunisian CAN squad

Karim Essediri won't compete in African Cup of Nations later this month. The reason for this is that Tunisia coach Roger Lemerre don't think the new Rosenborg winger is especially fit off-season.

"Of course I'm a bit disappointed. It seems like they will test some new players, who have not been in the national team squad before," Essediri says.
