Didn't UEFA state Poland-Ukraine 2012 will be the last co-hosted competition? |

Dont know, and now when they have made the desicion to have more teams in the playoffs they will make it hard for themself if they don't allow anymor co-hosted championships.
But I still think two will be the limit. _________________ Det er bedre å stupe ut i smørøyet enn å gå rundt grøten! |

Generally I dont like co hostings, it would however be nice as a last once-off so that Norway could host a tournament.
If the increase in teams means increase in stadium demands, then I guess only the likes of Spain, England, Italy, Germany, France, Turkey, maybe Portugal and Russia (??) will be able to host a tournament on their own.
Actually, a while ago there were rumours of an Israel-Palestine candidacy to host a big tournament, I have never heard of it again ever since. I wonder if it was a serious thing or just a fan who was taking his dreams for real and set up a campaign...
I would love to see Russia or Turkey host a tournament, it would be a novelty and they do have the infrastructure for it (actually, in Turkey lot of cities are upgrading and expanding their stadiums, so it is not like there is only the 4 big stadiums in Istanbul, several other cities are modernising their stadiums and increasing stadium capacities) _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

UEFA said on Tuesday that France, Italy and Turkey had informed European football's governing body that they wished to submit a single bid, while Norway and Sweden expressed their interest to submit a joint bid.
(...)
The second phase will begin on or about 3 April this year when the bid requirements are distributed. The candidates will be able to develop their bid dossiers, which they will have to present to UEFA by 15 February 2010. This will be followed by an evaluation phase from March 2010, during which UEFA will conduct a series of official visits to the various bidders. The UEFA administration, and experts appointed by UEFA, will then examine the bid dossiers and prepare written evaluation reports for submission to the UEFA National Team Competitions Committee. UEFA's Executive Committee will take a final decision on or about 27 May 2010.

Lerkendal (40,000) during a possible Euro 2016:
Oslo, Trondheim, Bergen, Stavanger, Lillestrøm and Bodø are the Norwegian host city candidates. These will be reduced to four. |

I wouldn't mind who wins (not sure about Turkey though, but it could be interesting), but a Norway/Sweden bid sounds very interesting and I'd like to see it, definitely. _________________ thecomplexii.com - Founded 2005 |

Rosenborg have deciced just to expand to 32,000 seats if Norway and Sweden become hosts. A temporary illustration by Populous:
This means another Norwegian city has to build the necessary 40,000 capacity stadium. Bergen should be to favourite. The decision is taken 10 July.
So far the funding is unknown. The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) probably just will ask the government for funding of temporary extensions of Lerkendal, meaning Rosenborg will have to pay any permanent extensions. This is a dilemma for RBK.
Personally I think the solution will be new permanent stands in the four corners while the third tiers at the Bygger'n, Adressa and Rema stands will be temporary.

As long as Italy doesn't get it, I'm happy with whatever host nation(s) they'll pick |

There are very good reasons for giving it to Italy, the best reason is to give an incentive to improve their stadiums which are very poor. |

Yeah, but they are poor despite the millions of euros spent to remodel said stadiums for 1990 World Cup.
Eventually most of the money ended up in somebody's bank account in some fiscal paradise, while stadia were built/rebuilt the typical Italian half-assed way.
Delle Alpi stadium in Turin was probably the epitome of the failure of the Italia '90 project... and unsurprisingly it was the least-liked stadium on the country and got promptly abandoned and it'll be dismanteled soon.
Italy is clearly unfit to host an international event that will bring in so much money and responsibility.
Winter Olympics 2006 were more than enough already |

Possible building steps, proposed by Populous:
26,000:
31,000:
37,000:
40,000:

Since RBK have decided 32k seats will be enough, I guess the expansion will be more symmetric than this proposed 31k solution. |

The Adidas stand (right) won't be extended, but the roof will have to be replaced:
The total cost for a temporary extention to 31,700 seats will be 800M NOK or €100M. Pretty expensive.
However the club is evaluating making half of the 10,000 new seats permanent. |
