When he signed for us he got a clause in his contract wich says that if he get an offer from a forein club, he can go for free before the end of this year (31.12.06). That's how!

This is probably known, but he has been offered a salary of between 10-15 million NOK for two and a half years, according to our national broadcaster NRK.

Guys I'm getting various signals that the transfer is completed.
Tomorrow (or the day after) the news will come out I think.

Oslo (ANB):

(ANB)

Steffen Iversen has rejected an offer from the Belgian club Genk, currently on top of the Belgian League, and decided to play for Rosenborg for another two years.

Genk is looking for a new attacker, and wanted Steffen Iversen. The Belgian giant offered Iversen 3.2 million NOK for half a year, but Iversen said no, VG writes.

According to the paper, the pay was too low for Iversen, which would've preferred 5.7 million for the short stay in the Belgian club.

This means Iversen enters phase two of his contract with Rosenborg, which means two more years at Lerkendal. This is said by his personal advisor Christian Eidem.

When Iversen decided to come to RBK earlier this year, he signed a one-year contract, with an option for another two years. It is this option Iversen now will make us of. (ANB)

This is an old article tho...

we discuss what we believe to be a new and much better offer from Genk.
An offer we think Iversen may accept..

Because of an agreement with Rosenborg, Iversen may leave RBK before the 31 of december.. Which means that he can go to Genk for free, leaving us in deep shit..

Come on Steffen, stay with us please! Sad I know the Belgian league well, and I'd say it is not much of a big step forward for Steffen, Genk is also far from sure to play Champions League with Anderlecht and Gent and Brugge closing in on them. Without saying the Belgian league is bad, it's also not really better than the Norwegian league. I'd understand him wanting to accept offers from England or Germany or so, but I don't think he can really call a move to Belgium an improvement.

By the way, I do hope Genk wins the Belgian league. I really dislike Anderlecht, so Genk has my support Razz But hands off Iversen!! Evil RBK

It seems like Iversen is moving to Flandern. According to VG, Genk have offered him a yearly salary of €800,000 in addition to a sign-on-fee of €750,000.

Suppose that Iversen signs for Genk, I am very irritated at the Rosenborg leaders, who let him get this clause in his contract. Neither Iversen nor the club ever said anything about this, and did instead remark that he now have signed a long-term deal of 3 years. After years of changing clubs he at last was supposed to settle down.

Because Iversen met the expectation of the coaches, two of his competitors, Frode Johnsen and Thorstein Helstad, were sold. Now we end up with only Yssouf Kone, who has been suffering from injures almost his whole debut season.

The same thing some of us users are saying in this thread. That if Iversen leaves Rosenborg for Genk, he has, yet again, used our club to further his personal career, and that if he finalizes the transfer he has forever lost our respect.

RBK will have no strikers!

I know it's early, too early maybe, but who could replace him or futher add to the squad?

Robbie Winters?
Robert Koren?
Daniel Nannskog?
Veigar Páll Gunnarsson?

the only one of those you're mentioning that can replace Steffen might be Nannskog.. but I'm not sure if he fits in as a lonely target man.. However, he's also a bit too old, I think..
Will be difficult to find a new striker in Steffens class, if not impossible..

Sigurd Rushfeldt might be an alternative, but for one season only because of his age..

It's another player for Rosenborg, Vidar Riseth, who says that Iversen has so much money he doesn't need any more. He doesn't believe Iversen will go to Genk.

It's really no big point in translating it. It's just a summary of what we already know and have said in this forum earlier.

The paper is really just qouteing rbkweb wich again is qouteing Het Belang van Limburg. A triple-quoting, you might say.

Yep, they just refer to my article on the frontpage, which again is based on the article of Het Belang van Limburg.
