A separate thread for the winter competition. Smile

What are the thoughts ahead of this tournament and in particular tomorrow's match vs Brann?

Torum is going ahead with a strong team with a few opportunities for other players, are Brann doing the same?

Is victory essential for qualification and are Brann or Odense/Helsingborg RBK's biggest opponents?

I'm hopefully going to see the game on TVN, hopefully.

I think today's article sums things up:

"To achieve good results in Europe again, we have to compete. Royal League is much better than normal friendly games," Knut Tørum states.

But still both players and supporters have to be more motivated. This hopefully will improve by time: the European cups weren't that popular in the beginning either.

The biggest challenge for the tournament is the weather/climate. I hate "mudwrestling"-football....

Dissapointing result and performance tonight and on a understandably awful pitch.

I thought RBK started well, nice finish from Storflor and 1-0 was deserved. However, things went down hill badly from here, Brann's first goal was a free header e.g very soft. They added another in the first half direct from a freekick, pretty poor keeping from Hansen.

Players were slipping and falling all the time on the bad surface but Brann grabbed another to make it 1-3 and end the game. This means RBK face a difficult task already in the Royal League.

I thought the TVNorge coverage isn't as good as TV2, still at least i got to see the full game.

Do you guys think that the players may be less concentrated or less pressured because we already won the league and because "most important trophy" has been assured? It could explain why we suddenly lose this game against an opponent we easily beat three weeks ago...

I think we lost because key players didn't care enough to make an effort. It's as simple as that.

Well, in a way I can even understand this. It was a long season and cost lot of efford, but the most important of all trophies has been won. So I guess undeliberately one goes into a next game with a more relaxed attitude, knowing that the most important job's done already. Not that I try to excuse this, but I guess it's not unnormal. And this one loss doesn't kick us out of the Royal League yet luckily.

That's it in one sentence, the whole team almost.

What is happening... ?! One point only, two bad losses, lot of goals we had against... Is the team just tired after a long season, or is there a lack of concentration (the "we already won Tippeligaen anyway")?! Even though of course the Tippeligaen is more important, it'd have been cool to seize the power in Scandinavia again in generally. The results and the form displayed, are seriously worrying me Sad

My impression is that the players simply dont care about Royal League... Cant say I disagree with them, other than that the match training during the winter season is good to have, also there's a few injuries.

I think the league itself is a failure.

Iversen, Sapara, Braaten, Koppinen and Hirschfeld have been injured.. That's the main reason for our lack of form.. along with tiredness and lack of concentration!

You can't call RL a failure yet. It's an infant. Let it mature.

For desperate people: The SwitchProxy Tool is an alternative to get a Norwegian IP.

Norwegian proxy: 129.242.19.197 (IP) 3128 (Port)

Hmm It doesnt work with a proxy either, at least not for me. I checked my IP at http://myip.dk/ after I connected to the proxy(the one attach mentioned), and sure enough the IP was different from my original.
The TvNorge-site still said the stream was only available for people residing in Norway Sad
Fortunately I can still view the match on euchannels Tommel'n opp!

I watched the last 20 minutes and another poor defensive performance. Nice goal by Riseth but i knew Brann would score, especially when Winters and Miller arrived on the pitch.

It was the Scottish duo that gave Brann the extra class and they combined extremely well for the winning goal.

Poor surface too, Brann might win the Royal League now.

The last Brann-goal was a Offside!

Maybe, but that still doesn't hide the poor quality of RBK defending. It's a pity that the defence is that bad, as Miller or Winters could be additions to the team for next season and Champions League campaign.
