Mistake to let Tronseth go?

Rosenborg gave away the then-U21 player Are Tronseth to Ham-Kam last year. This can soon prove to be a mistake.

The player from Stjørdalen, Trøndelag was remade from forward to midfielder during his years in RBK, and previous season he was first lent out to Ham-Kam before Rosenborg in September let him go for free.

Ola By Rise admits that he wasn't very comfortable with letting the talented 22-year old leave Lerkendal.

"In all honesty, I am not sure that we did the right thing. There is a lot of Erik Hoftun in Are," the RBK boss said to rbkweb.com in April.

Tom Jacobsen from Steinkjer, old National team player, now Ståle Solbakken's assistant in Ham-Kam, is not in doubt about Ham-Kam striking gold when they managed to get Are Tronseth.

"I am convinced that Are during the next 3-4 years will turn out to be the best middle defender in Norway," Jacobsen says to local Trøndelag paper Trønder-Avisa.

This sounds sweet to the ex-Rosenborg player:

"When someone says such a thing I get even more motivated. After the transfer from Rosenborg to Ham-Kam, everything has pointed upwards for my part. Last year I got acclimatized when we played in the 1st division. This gave me the needed confidence after having played 2nd division for Rosenborg 2," Are Tronseth ascertains.

Last year, Tronseth played in his usual position as a middle defender, but during this year's Tippeliga he actually has mostly played as a central midfielder.

"That we now let him play as midfielder, is a great learning process," says Tom Jacobsen.

Luckily for Rosenborg, Are Tronseth is keen on a comeback to Trondheim should the need arise - for example when Erik Hoftun finally ends his carreer.

"I am having a great time in Hamar in all ways, but I do not hide the fact that I dream of playing in the RBK shirt again. But for the moment, Solbakken/Jacobsen are my bosses, and I do what they say. We will see what happens in some years," the sympathetic local lad finishes.
