Can anyone tell me the latest news with his injury ?
I know he broke his leg in 2 places back in November.
Is he expected to play again ?
When is he due back playing ?
How good a player can he be ?
Any help appreciated
Many thanks

He will probably return right before the start of the season, and he has the potential to become the best norwegian player ever. No kidding. |

Welcome jediman!
Per started running training and practice with ball. Here probably would be ready to play in the start of the season(April). He is the biggest talent under-21 right now. He has international skills, Per could be a huge star!
Where do you come from? Are you a Rosenborg supporter? |

Anyone else want to add any comments ?
Thanks for all your messages so far - pretty much gives me the info. I need to know.
Pretty sad really , but I play a really good online footbal management game and I have been offered this player for a really good price !! lol
So did some research and found he had a serious injury and I wondered if the guy knew he wasnt going to play football again , therefore give me a cheap price to buy him !! |

He had his breakthrough last year and is an insanely good soccer player. He was always one of the best players on the pitch in this year's UCL games, even against Real Madrid.
The doctors are saying that his leg injury isn't severe ("the fracture is not complicated"). At least they are using some similar jargon. |

that he will be back sooner than first expected, which is positive now that Oerjan Berg probably plays his last season. |

Per played his first match (after injury) against Aalesund. Did he play good match? Could he play regular (league) match? What do you think? I hope he will be o.k. and will play as well as he did _________________ http://www.fb.com/norskyfotbal |

He has recovered from his injury and played games, but he isn't his old self - yet. Perhaps after the summer break? Let's hope. |

He also suffered a knee injury during today's friendly against Fredrikstad. The severity is still unknown. |

Rosenborg wants to extend his contract.
"It looks good (Skjelbred staying). He has not signed yet, but we expect him to sign within the next 14 days," said the club's sports director Erik Hoftun.
"Per is a player we really want to keep."

West Bromwich want to sign Per Ciljan Skjelbred, but Rosenborg turn down a transfer.
"This is not interesting for us, and the bid is rejected," director of sports Erik Hoftun tells.
The interest has been big since his breakthrough in 2005, but this is said to be the first concrete offer Rosenborg have received.

Birmingham Mail is confused:
The Rosenborg official website reports that Skjelbred may yet be sold during this transfer window if he fails to agree to a new contract by tomorrow's deadline.
If he decides against a new deal then his transfer value may diminish to reflect the remaining 18 months of his current contract.

The Baggies also remain keen on 21-year-old Norway international midfielder Skjelbred, despite having an opening bid of approaching £2m turned down.
They could face intense competition for the attacking midfielder’s services, with their opening approach potentially triggering a series of responses.

A source from the Norwegian club told the Chronicle:
“What is interesting is that Newcastle are still following Skjelbred and are preparing to lodge a £4.5m bid for him if their bigger transfer targets slip out of their hands.
“Which is also why Skjelbred is putting off signing a new deal with Rosenborg. He does not want to make things messy if Newcastle or another club he might find interesting comes in for him before the end of the transfer window.”

If this is correct, a bid from Newcastle certainly will be more interesting both for Rosenborg and Skjelbred... |

Extended his contract from 2009 to 2011 today.
"It feels right and I am glad that it is done.
"On a sporting level it looks good and exciting times are ahead for the club. Additionally, we have a very good coach (Erik Hamren) and I am keen to be part of his plans."

Excellent. That ensures we have PCS's services for at least the remainder of this season. Should he go next year or there afterwards, we'll be in line for very substantial compensation you'd imagine.
Good business by the club. |

I guess he will stay longer than new year as his contract has been extended multiple seasons. I think we should at least keep him another year until we get more European exposure so that, if he would really want to leave, we can at least count on interest from wealthy clubs whose offers guarantee us a quality replacement. But ideally I would keep him for another full season or maybe 2. Extended till 2011 means we could sell at the end of the 2010 season and get some good money for him, while still having him in the team for another full 2 seasons. _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

Hi there. Newcastle fan here. There are reports from Sky Sports that we have bid £6m for Per today, and that the bid will be discussed at a board meeting this week. Any truth in this? |

According to Rosenborg's Director of Sports, Hoftun, in an interview in todays Dagbladet (Norwegian daily), that is not true.
He said they would consider a bid in that range. |

tror ikke skjelbred blir solgt i dette vinduet nei, men hvis budet er på 60 mill så tjener klubben mere netto på et slikt salg enn å være med i champions league..Men håper virkelig at skjelbred blir værende et par år til.. |
