According to TV2 the players' representatives (Strand, Dorsin and Iversen?) have been informed that Joensson will take command in 2011.

As you probably know, the Swede led Stabaek to the title in 2008 and has proved himself to be a great guy with good ideas of how football should be played. I'm pleased with this signing.

Still unclear who will be interim coach this autumn.

I just read the news on the BigSoccer.com website. After reading some of the posts here, I'm assuming Joensson is a good pick for coach.

I've read that Jan also has coaching experience in the J-League as an assistant.

It will be interesting to see when he starts for the club.

Now as Sapi is gone, we could use him as kicker in Stenerud style too. Razz

Jonsson has done a great job with Stabaek, I like the players e.g Fernerud, Diskerud, Alanzinho, Tchoyi etc he brought there. If it's to be a caretaker until he comes in, I suppose no-one know's RBK better than Eggen.

As I posted on the other thread. Agree with 2mas, Stabaek's gull season was typical of the RBK of old - total attacking football. Alanzinho was terrific and attacking players of this calibre, combined with RBK's current defensive nous, could make us competitive in Europe again.

He know's how to win the league too, which is nice.

It seems like we'll have to wait until 1 July to get the official announcement; Joensson has got a clause in his deal, not allowing him to sign a deal before that. But it seems pretty clear that he has given Rosenborg "his words".

Stabaek seem pretty desperate in the moment, "forcing" Joensson to make this statement yesterday regarding the Rosenborg case:

"We have had contact some time ago, but there has not been any concrete negotiations and of course a contract is not signed. According to my contract I have no possiblity to negotiate with any other club before 1 July."

I don't know the insides of Stabaek's economy but with their crowds last season, I doubt they have the finance to compete with RBK/Brann/VIF?

I suppose they would have gained transfer fees for Alanzinho/Tchyoi but they must have contributed to the Telenor Arena construction? Maybe that was helped by Telenor or Baerum?

Whatever, Joensson wants to come and we want him so surely they must accept this outcome.

They usually get help from a rich uncle. There are plenty of them down here.

Kjell Christian Ulrichsen is Stabaek's rich uncle.

Ahh. Is Fredriksen still similarly involved at VIF? He's Norway's richest right?

Someone like that, if they invested seriously, could change the league dynamics. MFK I suppose are in this bracket too. Being reliant on one "rich uncle" isn't too clever in the long term but I guess that's not the idea...

Yeah, MFK had/has Bjørn Rune Gjelsten and Kjell Inge Røkke as "rich uncles"..

Today it was official that Jönsson will quit at Stabæk in December.

However he still is not eligable to sign for Rosenborg before 1 July; Stabæk could remove this clause, but they won't. Actually a bit strange since a signing in these World Cup times would end all speculations before the summer break and the subsequent preparations for the second half of the season.

Jönsson, who boasts playing and coaching experience in Japan as well as his native Sweden, came to Stabæk in 2005 and immediately guided the relegated club back to the top flight. Since 2007 they have not finished outside the top three, winning the title for the first time two years ago and last term making the UEFA Europa League play-offs, only to lose to Valencia CF.

His reign is now coming to an end although the 50-year-old remains fully focused.

"I am not thinking about next year," Jönsson said.

"We have important league games to come, in addition to the qualifiers for the UEFA Europa League. I really hope our European matches will give us a lift."

27 June he signed a 4-year-deal, which today was made public.

"The board this January discussed whether we should wait for him. Jönsson was such a strong candidate in this proscess, that we decided to wait until we could begin negotiations with him," Rosenborg president Terje Svendsen told rosenborg.info.

Jönsson is in his sixth campaign at Stabæk, whom he guided to a maiden Norwegian Tippeligaen title in 2008.

"I look forward to a new challenge at Rosenborg, and I hope to build on the club's tradition of doing well in European competition," he said.

Attacking football, 4-3-3, should be good.

Jönsson is a 4-4-2 guy. I hope he continues with RBK's current formation.

I thought with Alanzinho/Gunnarsson wide, Nannskog through the middle, he went with 4-3-3 for some time?

Iversen might not work with 4-3-3 now but Prica or Moldskred could play this role. How would Champions League football if we got there change the formation I wonder. I guess away from home, we got our best results last time round with counter-attack. Nevertheless, Eggen will lead us anyway.

Rosenborg bosses called a press conference and announced he’d been fired after two years and 89 matches. “I’m a bit sad about this, but we’re parting as friends,” Jönsson told reporters. “I could have possibly done better with one more year, but my time in the club hasn’t been wasted.”
