Rosenborg have signed Juska Savolainen from Tampere for €350k today.

I expect him to be pretty close to a regular place in the midfield as Traore most likely will be moved to the back.

PS! He can't play against Fiorentina after playing against Bordeaux earlier this season.

Has there been any speculation about the transfer fee? Finnish papers have been guessing that the fee was around 250k€-350k€, which seems quite cheap. Anyway, you've got a great player, absolute favourite among most of the TamU supporters in last two seasons, hope he does well with you too.

The word on the street is 350k€ (2,8 mill NOK).

Tampere did get him for free when Allianssi went bankrupt?

Yes we did. Actually, it's very unusual that Finnish clubs trade players with each other but usually the players move from club to club as a Bosman.

However, as propakiisö said, you got a great player and also for a very reasonable prize. I don't know if this 350 k€ is anything else than rumor, but it sounds very low.

Can you give any comments and your feelings about this transfer? Obviously we here in Tampere are disappointed that probably the best player in Finnish Veikkausliiga has left from our team. Juska was elected as a fans player of the year after last season and he also got his first national team call-up. Anyway, all the best for Juska, he really is a special talent!

I haven't been entirely convinced about this player, but that is because of my lack of knowlegde about him and Finnish football in general. You know a lot more about his talent than I do, and what you have told us so far sounds very promising. Could you please say a little more about which kind of player he is? Strengths and weaknesses? Primary position?

(About, about, about, about...)

Did he have one year left of his contract? If so, I think €350k is a fair transfer fee. But I agree that maybe €500k would have been good too.

I think we are all uncertain of Savo's qualities. Of course we hope this a good signing, but the Norwegian league is a step up for him.

Most likely he will be fighting with club legend Strand for a place in the midfield. Since this is Strand's last season, he and the club are quite clear that he shouldn't be a "barrier" for younger players. If the coach considers Savo and Strand to be quite equal, I think Savo will get a regular place.

Has he by the way any U21 caps?

I think Juska had still two years left in his contract after signing extension to his former contract last summer.

When Juska (or Savo, very good nick you have given btw. Tommel'n opp! ) came to Tampere two years ago he started as a winger but because of injuries during last pre-season he changed the position to central midfield. He learned that position very quickly and became one of the most important players in our last season of succes.

Like he said in some interview, his best ability is skills with the balls. Smile So, he can run with ball very well without any panic and give some quality passes if needed. When we last season had some panic during our Euro games, Juska was the one who always tried to calm the situation down by keeping the ball and trying to pass it forward instead of just shooting it out of the field. Also, in one on one situation he usually get's past defender.

And about wekanesses, he isn't very physical player. Tackling isn't his best ability and yet he isn't strong enough for winning most of the battles in midfield. Probably you won't be seeing many long shots from him either.

I don't know if Juska has any U21-caps under his belt, maybe propakiisö can help you with that.

Decent signing, maybe like Stefan Gislason who we were after a while back. (Is he still at Lyn? Wouldn't mind signing him either.)

Gislason was sold to Brøndby for 10 million NOK last July.

That's nearly 1.5 million euros right?

Maybe that's too much for RBK, if what we're hearing about Savolainen is true then we should be pleased with his signing.

I don't think we can compare Sava to Gislason. Gislason was 190++cm and a very physical player, so that comparison would be incorrect..

On loan to Tampere until 31 July

Good for all parts. "Savo" needs match training after his two operations (foot and pelvis) and in August there might be one or two "open positions" at the midfield; RBK budget with selling players for 22M NOK this summer.

In the moment he is back in Trondheim, but Rosenborg are looking for a new club for the Finn with only 78 minutes first team football for RBK.

Not so surprising given the economy but not much opportunity here. Another player Hamren isn't too bothered about it would seem.

The latest news is that he will stay at RBK - at least for the rest of the season.
