"I think this is very exciting and challenging. There are hard and highly qualified opponents, but at the same time it is possible to gain points from all of these teams," Per-Mathias Høgmo says.

Madrid vice-president Emilio Butragueño:
"We all know what it means to play in Europe, we are aware that we will face many difficulties but we are optimistic. We make our debut in the competition in Lyon and it is essential to start a tournament like this on a positive note. Lyon are a great side, Rosenborg are classic rivals for us, we have met each other many times in recent years and so we know all about their physical strength. Olympiacos need no introduction - they are going to be tough rivals, especially at home."

Lyon captain Claudio Caçapa:
"Against Madrid we'll be targeting a huge achievement. We'll try to be inspired by [AS] Monaco [FC]'s success two seasons ago. Looking at the rest of the group, I think we have a chance of finishing in the top two."

Olympiacos spokesman George Spyropolous:
"They are big clubs and this is the top European competition so we would expect to play against these teams. In the past few years we have played against all our opponents. They are familiar faces and we are looking forward to a great season. Not only for us but for the competition itself. It is important for Greek football to have teams at this level. We will do our best to progress."

Rosenborg coach Per-Mathias Høgmo:
A very tough group; not what we wanted. But the qualities we showed against [FC] Steaua [Bucuresti] make me optimistic that we can make an impression in the section.

So we missed a match in Bucharest against Real Madrid. That's too bad. I wish you the very best of luck and I hope we were eliminated by a team which will be a worthy opponent for the other three teams in this group.

Thank you! We're talking about third place and UEFA Cup on this forum. Difficult, but maybe our most realistic hope

Mmm, Real is very difficult - no doubt. Lyon met Sparta Prague last year and it was really great team. They won 2-1 in Prague and in the last match in the group (I think) they played excellently. They shooted Sparta up 5-0! So it will be also a difficult rival. And Pireas? I don´t know. Most probably the main rival in the 3rd place match.

I think the two matches between Olympiakos and Rosenborg will decide which one of us who qualifies for the 3rd round of the UEFA Cup.

I think we now have a good chance securing the 3rd place in the group. Hopefully we are not a 1st division team when we take part in the 3rd round of the UEFA cup in February/March next year... Rolling Eyes
