Rosenborg director of sports Erik Hoftun tells Trondheim daily Adresseavisen that representatives of Cluj will travel to Norway in short time to begin negotiations.

The transfer is still on.

Rosenborg hope the transfer can wait until 1 August because FIFA reduced the Norwegian summer transfer window to 1-31 August. Our winter window is 1 January - 31 March (15 November - 31 March before). Of course we can sell players to foreign clubs already 1 July, but we can not replace them before 1 August...

I think we should go ahead with this, I'm sure Cluj will offer a very satisfactory deal like they did with Lars.

That would leave us attacking wise....Steffen...Storflor...and..er...Konan Ya!

Strikers anyone?

I can't think of anyone domestically we should be interested in, Espen Hoff?

I think it's a pity we couldn't get someone like Elyounoussi a few years back, he will command a really good fee (like PCS) when he leaves for the EPL or Bundesliga/La Liga.

Rosenborg confirm a Cluj bid on Koné. The dilemma is whether to sell 1 July in front of what can be a decisive month of the season with important matches in both league, cup and Intertoto Cup.

I guess Rosenborg hope for a compromise with Cluj, delaying the transfer somewhat. When in July do Cluj begin their pre-season?

Maybe I found the answer myself: 18 June.

Quote:
In perioada 18 iunie – 3 iulie, echipa lui Ioan Andone va efectua un prim cantonament in Austria, la Kossen, iar intre 6 – 17 iulie clujenii se vor antrena pentru meciurile din Liga Campionilor, la Salzburg.

CFR va merge în cantonament tot în Austria

If this is correct, Cluj in any case won't have Koné in time for the beginning of their pre-season; or does the Romanian transfer window begin earlier than 1 July?

The transfer window is somewhat irrelevant; there are of course just friendly matches in the pre-season.

If Rosenborg agree on a transfer when Cluj wants; 1 July, I think Koné has played his last match for us independent of whether he travels to Austria on the first training camp.

He misses the three next matches before the summer break in June because of African WC qualifiers, and I don't think RBK will force him back to Norway for the Bodø/Glimt match 27 June (+ maybe the cup match some days before).

Yes the transfer window doesn't really matter, but I'm sure that if this transfer will go through, CFR would like to have Kone for at least one of the two training camps the team will have before the start of the season. Although there will be only friendly games in that period, it's very important for the players to get to know each other, as there are already a couple of other new guys. And of course, maybe the most important thing... the trainer needs to see him on the pitch, to see what's he capable of.

Okey, so it is now acceptable that we now sell players on transfer-fee conditions? It`s a shame that now one take an initative to withdraw some money back. It is really amazing that no one here is satsisfied with the players we have been selling for free. Kone is worth 5 MEURO. At least.Pay up. He is a cl players, fucking ignore the league.

First off I'd have to say I disagree with Koné being worth 5mill euro, however I won't get into a discussion about his qualities (or the lack thereof), but the fact of the matter is that Koné has only half a year left in his contract, and he's unwilling to sign a new contract. This is probably the reason why Rosenborg is willing to sell him now that we can get some money for him, and spend that money on a new striker. If Koné was irreplaceable the administration probably wouldn't enter negotations. However his performance this season, in my opinion, proves that he's not invaluable.

Cluj bid rejected

Hoftun won't reveal the size, but it seems clear that he thinks Cluj will try once.

Anyhow, doesn't Kone have an insane goal-ratio for the national-team already, this just adding too it?

Player of the day
Yssouf Kone

Burkina Faso have stumbled upon a new hero in the Rosenborg striker. Making his entrance from the bench just ten minutes from time and with his side still trailing to Tijani Belaid's first-half strike for the Tunisians, Kone got to work immediately. Within a minute he had levelled the scores and within seven he had bagged the winner to stun the crowd at the Stade Olympique du 7 Novembre in Rades and give the Burkinabés three wholly unexpected points. Whatever else happens in Group 9, the 2004 African champions will never forget Kone's name.

It seems as though Kone is getting closer and closer to a transfer to our team. The transfer might be officially announced in the following days.

Any transfer fee mentioned?

I guess Koné and Rosenborg all the time wanted to wait until after the Burkina Faso match today before closing the deal.

The big question now is whether he will play the match against Bodø/Glimt on Friday or travel straight to Transylvania.

Hoftun answers my question:

"Yssouf will come to Trondheim on Tuesday, and is not ready for Cluj."

The Transylvanian club wants the player immediately, while Rosenborg in principle wants to wait until the Norwegian transfer window opens 1 August.

"We have still not agreed with Cluj on the time of the transfer," director of sports Erik Hoftun tells.

Latest news from Transylvania: RBK demand €1M

Cluj are said to be accepting the demand, financing the transfer by selling Christian Fabbiani.

Koné ready for Cluj

The transfer fee is said to be €600k. He moves to Transylvania 1 August, when the Norwegian transfer window opens. This way Rosenborg will have time to find a replacement.

Even though not all details are finalized, I will be really surprised if Koné doesn't join Cluj 1 August.

This remains me of the Johnsen transfer, when Rosenborg were denying a sale to Nagoya all day before "suddenly" making it public.

By the way:

In terms of players starting to make a name for themselves, Burkina Faso marksman Yssouf Kone deserves a special mention. Having played just ten minutes on the road to Germany 2006, the Rosenborg man has so far buried three goals in 110 minutes, giving him the best ratio in Africa.

Now it is official: Enige med CFR Cluj

As said, Koné leaves 30 July.

"It has been quite likely for some time that Koné would go to Cluj. When the representatives from the club came yesterday, it didn't take long to agree. Now just the personal contract [of Koné] has to be signed before everything is settled," Rosenborg chief executive Nils Skutle says.

Kone to Cluj! Thank you Rosenborg BK! It's not OK that he will miss most of our summer training and not have time to rest but we will manage. I hope he will score again 10 goals this season in the CL, but all of them in the Group Stages. Very Happy And I also hope that he will help your team qualify in the UEFA Cup until 1 August.

With 3 ex-Rosenborg players, Dorsin, Hirschfeld and Kone, CFR Cluj can now be considered to be approx 1/4 out of Rosenborg (3 players out of 11). Very Happy If you would like to find out about the progress of Lars, Mikael and Yssouf you can say hello to them and our fans at our CFR Cluj English forum: http://www.cfronline.ro/f...orum_id=32. Tommel'n opp!

I am sad to see him leave but 600k is a really good transfer sum.

I wish him all the best in Romania and we're thankful to have had him in our team. I am sure he will be a fan favourite in Cluj soon too.

PS: any rumours who we'd be buying as replacement?
