Per-Mathias Høgmo:

"We are as well prepared as we can be. The training conditions have been very good considering the time of year - we have only had to train indoors twice.

"Confidence is high," Høgmo went on. "The players felt they played well against Madrid and, although we lost 2-0 [on Matchday 4], we felt we deserved more from the game. Our win in Athens came at a time when the team were struggling in the Tippeligaen and we've progressed immensely since. The players have grown through our strong finish in the league and some good matches in the UEFA Champions League. We don't take Olympiacos lightly, though. They are a very good side, especially going forward, and I think they are better than when we faced them in Athens."

Trond Sollied:

"The statistics say we shouldn't win," he said. "Olympiacos have never beaten Rosenborg, nor won an away match in the UEFA Champions League. Rosenborg are also very strong at home and can defeat any European side at the Lerkendal.

"That's why I see Rosenborg as clear favourites, but it is not a given that they will win," Sollied, who spent several years with the Norwegian club as both player and coach, continued. "It is quite special to be back here and it's nice to meet Rosenborg in these circumstances. As for the game, we have to do our best, and hope that is enough to secure victory."

Rosenborg are playing against Olympiakos without having had a "sparring partner" to test their shape the last three weeks, but Per-Mathias Høgmo has tried to make the best of it.

"Not having played a match for three weeks is not optimal for our situation, but we have been attack minded and tried to make the most of it. We have done many heavy physical exercices and workouts. It is something we hope is going to help us on the field tomorrow," Høgmo told the reporters attending the afternoon press conference at Lerkendal.

Hopefully we will. But I am happy with a draw too.

Norwegian media has by the way made a big thing out of this today:

30-40 Olympiakos fans were involved in a beating of a Norwegian man - outside a church in Trondheim Wednesday afternoon.

The man reacted when he saw some of the supporters spraying an Olympiakos-symbol on a building in Trondheim. This caused the fans to attack the Norwegian man.

Good result for RBK, UEFA Cup football secured, although didn't they leave it late? Smile

Olympiakos played well and should maybe have won the three points however credit to Helstad, a cool finish, cue the celebrations!! Very Happy

I do hope the tackle on Skjelbreid appears on TV-screens across Europe. Olympiakos deserves to be shamed for what they are - a thoroughly disgraceful football team !

Bugger off back home if you please Mad

Per Ciljan Skjelbred was supposed to get to play his debut for the national team next spring, but after Stoltidis' brutal tackle, the RBK talent will probably not be on the pitch until the league begins in April.

Ironic really... The people that coined the term 'Barbarian' have become barbarians themselves.

I'll give the Olympiakos fans one hell of a Tommel'n opp! though, for their chants and singing. They really overshadowed Kjernen throughout much of the game. Of course, they went totally silent towards the end... Wink

More photos of the foul:

Rosenborg starlet Per Ciljan Skjelbred underwent surgery on Thursday morning and is likely to be sidelined until the summer.

"The surgery went well," Rosenborg doctor Ketil Holen says.

"I am hoping he will be back on his feet with the aid of crutches tomorrow."

That was a very poor challenge on Skjelbred and hopefully he recovers well and quickly.

The last minute goal did shut them up, what a fantastic time to score a goal and a good goal too. Nice to see Dorsin make up for his own goal against Madrid with a good performance.

Helstad supplied a good finish too, Kjernan behind the goal had to wait before the ball crossed the line to celebrate. Very Happy

The second between the ball hitted the post and rolled into the net was looong. After the missed penalty and our general bad luck this year, I was sure the ball would hit the other post and go out. But luckily this didn't happen, and the celebrations could begin! Very Happy

Well. Hopefully someone will show it to him, so he'll have something to laugh about.
A good laugh helps his general mood. And his general mood will affect his recovery.
