Norway is unseeded, and will meet either Spain, Czech Republic or Turkey in the play offs. Hopefully we'll meet the Turks! (The draw is tomorrow).

You think Norway can pass Turkey? I've seen they play pretty good.

I'd say we have 5-10% chance against spain
15-20% against check rep.
20-25% against turkey.

turkish teams has not impressed me in the european cups this year.

bad luck for israel, unbeaten but third in the group, wonder if that has happened before...

As said, Norway cannot meet Switzerland, since we're both unseeded.

err.. Spain isn't any good at the time, so 5-10%? No! Maybe like 20-30%. The same I think about Czech rep.

Yeah right. belgium-spain 0-2 when it mattered. Spain will eat us alive and you know it. Hope we don't have to see it happen.

But it seems, according to the news, that norway is a popular draw in both spain, turkey and czekkia, which maybe can give the norwegian players a little less pressure and more underdogspirit. hope.[/quote]

I agree on the tip in the Norwegian football forum:

NOR - CZE 0-0
CZE - NOR 1-1

Cool

I think it doesn´t matter, if we meet CZE or TUR because they are on a tight and same level. Perhaps Turkey is now in a hole and would be a little weaker than CZE... But the draw is through and we got the Czech Republic. It is possible, but it will be very hard. The only advantage of Norway will be that Jan Koller is out for the time. But the Czechs have a lot of good strikers as Lokvenc, Jun, Baros and so on. I think that CZE will win at home and play a draw in Norway, so that they will reach the WCH-final-round. BUT I hope that Norway can make it!
The match NOR-TUR would have been also interesting, but to cheer for the opponent of Turkey is very dangerous here in Gelsenkirchen... (a lot of Turkish people here) Neutral Twisted Evil
Let´s see! Wink

Sorry I'm pessimistic. It's more than twice as hard to beat a better team over two matches than in one.

But I think it's an advantage to play at home first. The czecks will play defensive there and maybe we can get that 0-0 result. They will surely not beat us 0-3 as spain did in last play-off when the home match was the last one.

czecks probably wont be scared of norwegian november weather. thats a disadvantage. turks an a few minus degrees would have been a nice chance.

What do our czeck expert think? Will nedved play in the play-off?

I am not very pleased with result of the draw... I think that our squad has bigger chances than the norwegian one. But it will be very difficult and equail. Pavel Nedved? Oh, it is very strange with him. There were several problems before the important match against Holland and maybe it is a reason why we lost this match. The strange atmosphere "transmited" to the whole team and players had to answer unpleasant journalist´s questions such as "What do you think about Pavel Nedved?" or "Would you like to have Pavel in the team?". So they weren´t able to have a full concentrate on the match. Pavel would be a good support in the team but our other midfielders are also very skillful (Rosicky, Poborsky,...).
Opinions of several czechs fans (from http://fotbal.idnes.cz):
Petras25: So the one positive thing is that nobody will underestimate the strenght of Norway. We certainly underestimate Slovaks...
vrchni: Norway has crocky squad with two real players (Riise, Carew). I think it would be clear or we should go to water with our "famous" generation. Norwegians shooted 12 goals in 10 matches.
Macin: My choise: NOR - CZE 2:1, CZE - NOR 1:0 (Rosicky´s goal from penalty in 92nd minute after a foul on Baros
You can see that here are more opinions that Czech Rep. has a good chance to get to Germany.
I think - Norway - Czech R. 1:0, Czech R. - Norway 3:1 Rolling Eyes

Haha!! Riise and Carew? Riise is shit, and I don't even know why he is on the national team, but I think Hareide like Livershit or some thing.

My mistake. I did the maths to check. this is true for very big difference in levels, such as czeck rep-san marino, but not for czeck rep-norway. It's only a tiny bit worse to win over two matches than in one...

Yes, and I'm really looking forward to it! I hope Braaten will be in the starting line-up.

The bad pitch is now approved by the FIFA:

But I rather wanted the game to play at Lerkendal!

PS:

Norway - Czech.Rep 2-1

Czech.Rep - Norway 1-1

Alejandro Lago was left out of the match squad when Uruguay won 1-0 home against Australia in the play-off tonight.

"We could have won by more and we played a very good team, which played very well and gave us a lot of work," Uruguay coach Jorge Fossati says.
