This is just weird:

I have been a Rosenborg fan since I was a child
I have been a Bendtner fan since he made his Arsenal debut

But today, weird thing happened and I just saw him signing for Rosenborg.
Really weird in a way.

Anyways happy 100th with a good? transfer, hope it works for both parties. I am over excited about this season. I still am weirded fuckloads about the whole thing.

The majority of the users here are just astounded that this has happened. But l`d say that the general opinion is cautiously optimistic. As we are all aware of his shennaningans in the past. I`d say it`s pretty festive, there`s one or two that`s been flat out negative but for the most part people are positve. When the initial shock has settled a bit we might se a more nuanced view on this transfer.

Bendtner has the potential to become the all time top goalscorer in the norwegian eliteserie if he is dedicated and serious. I rate Bendtner over Spalvis any day of the week. I see him as a perfect signing in this window since we can't promise Champions League or Europa League this season even though we will try our best to qualify. He is without doubt one of the biggest profiles our league has seen in a long time. I only hope the club finds a quality SM and CB in this window.

This is just mad. But I agree that team needs a good CB to compete for a CL spot

It really would be great if Rosenborg could make it to Champions League. It has been a long time. And maybe this is a 100th Bday that comes hopefully with loads of presents! Maybe Agger will join Very Happy

I am optimistic as well, he will be a good addition, as Rosenborg always shines its strikers and motivates them. Usually career highs came at Rosenborg for many. If he is on a streak he will keep it up.

And, according to Ekstra Bladet, Bendtner will be earning ‘starvation wages’ of just £450,000 a year or, in other, more startling words, £8,500 a week. A mind-boggling sum to us mere mortals but pocket change to top level footballers and comfortably the lightest pay packet of his professional career.

Nicklas Bendtner belied his bad boy reputation during his short spell with Nottingham Forest – and was allowed to leave the Championship club in an effort to secure regular first team football, not because he was ever a problem behind the scenes.

(...)

"He just was not able to get into the team. We have a lot of quality options up front and Nicklas was just down that list of options," said Brazil.

"From our point of view him moving on is good for him and, given that we were not really using him, it is sensible for the club as well.

"For Nicklas, I have to say he was really good to work with. He was outstanding at times on the training ground and I found him a really decent guy and human being. We wish him every success in the future."

Ekstra Bladet say Bendtner is the ‘King of Norway’ and they’re now producing a more positive slant on the player’s Nottingham Forest exit. If it means one of their reporters gets to follow Bendtner around Malaga then it can’t be a bad thing.

The Danish newspaper even compare a topless Bendtner walking around Rosenborg’s Malaga training camp to Daniel Craig’s James Bond walking out of the sea in Casino Royale.

Bendtner’s last start for Forest was in the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Wigan Athletic when Montanier was still at the helm.

However he has not been in the match day squad since the end of January.

He explained at his unveiling that he did not see a move to Rosenborg as a step back and said:

“As a footballer, the most important thing is being somewhere where you are happy and you fit in and I have had that feeling since coming here.

“Rosenborg are a team that have won the division twice in a row and want to play in Europe consistently and those are ambitions I have too.”

He wasn't involved a lot, and right around when the lord came on, the whole team kinda changed in structure with players playing out of position etc.

He had some nice touches, but I wouldn't say we've really seen what he can do. Far from it, actually.

He did alright, but you can see he obviously needs more training, and might be a tiny bit heavy still. It was all in all a bad game by us, so he didn't get many chances to work with. Tommel'n opp!

NICKLAS BENDTNER won silverware on his Rosenborg debut – as he came off the bench to bag an assist and the Norway Super Cup.

(...)

“We were a bit under pressure, but we did what we had to do and punished them.

“It was good to start the season with a win.”

Rosenborg boss Kare Ingebrigtsen told the Danish newspaper BT this week that he was shocked Forest did not play him more:

“What surprises me is that the club that he comes from hasn’t used him. It’s surprising.

“For he is a very, very good player.”

After struggling to make much of an impact at Wolfsburg and Forest, Rosenborg offers the 29-year old striker a chance to get his career back on track. Bendtner’s signing has already struck fear into Norway’s top division.

“Rosenborg are obvious favorite to win the Eliteserien. If it works with Bendtner, they are almost unbeatable. The best other teams can hope for is that he is a flop.” – Former Vålerenga Manager Kjetil Rekdal

MARTIN O’NEILL believes that Nicklas Bendtner is guilty of not fulfilling his potential — but he knows enough about him to be wary of him in the play-off.

(...)

The Ireland manager said: “I think at some stage he might look back and realise that he hasn’t got everything out of the talent that he possessed, because he was naturally a really decent footballer, really decent. I had him on loan at Sunderland and when Nicklas turned up he was a very good player. Really good.

At the team’s luxurious Hotel Marienlyst in Helsingor, the in-form Rosenborg attacker took a tumble after leaving his room on the way to breakfast.

But he quickly dusted himself down and remains on track to play his part - most likely off the bench - in Copenhagen on Saturday.

(...)

Responding to claims of not fulfilling his potential, the big striker cited a miserable run of injuries throughout a career that brought him to Arsenal and Juventus amongst others.

But he revealed that he considered jacking in the game after his time at Wolfsburg and Nottingham Forest until friends and family persuaded him to reconsider.

He said: “With Martin O’Neill at Sunderland I was out for three months; at Juventus I was really happy but I was injured for six months. At Arsenal, I was injured for a year.

"But this season I’ve been injury free and I’ve had continuity in my game and I’ve been able to build myself up.”

Bendtner has not yet scored in Denmark's World Cup Qualifying campaign but he did earn a starting role for their final Group E match against Romania, and won a penalty for Christian Eriksen to convert in a 1-1 draw.

He has an opportunity be involved in the XI again as Denmark face Republic of Ireland in the first leg of their play-off on Saturday, live on Sky Sports, particularly with Feyenoord's Nicolai Jorgensen potentially unavailable after a wrist injury.

Whether Bendtner plays or not, the 29-year-old sounds as though he might still be satisfied with his year to date.

"Before I got here [Rosenborg], I did not want to play football anymore," he told Norway's NRK a fortnight ago. "I had trouble figuring out what had gone wrong. For me, the shift was about getting football back. I needed to find a place where it could be done."

“Looking at our failed attempt to get to Euro 2016 against Sweden, it was the darkest moment for Nicklas’ national team career. He was completely off his game. It was seen as a duel between him and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but there was really no battle. Ibrahimovic single-handedly knocked us out and Bendtner was booed off the pitch in Denmark as he was being substituted.

“He had simply not put in a shift, he had missed even pretty simple things in that match. Him coming back now, having turned his career around… he’s playing for Rosenborg now, so it’s not as highly regarded as some of the places he’s played before but he seems to have learned things.

“We come from a fairytale country with Hans Christian Andersen and everything, and people will love to get a happy ending — everybody would love to see Bendtner [score] in the play-off against Ireland, but he would be doing that off the bench I’m pretty sure.”

Whilst most would consider life among the Norwegian Eliteserien to represent something of a wasted venture, Bendtner has nonetheless struck upon a brand new vein of form whilst operating in his new surroundings, with his ability to score great goals once again confirmed in the eyes of his former fans.

His current employers – Rosenborg BK – have benefited greatly from his newfound presence at their club. Although the Norwegian league champions will not find themselves troubling the greater European elite any time soon, Bendtner’s recent resurrection deserves further recognition in light of everything he has achieved alongside his new teammates.

(...)

If things go well for the once highly regarded attacker, perhaps a move back among the English top-flight isn’t entirely off the cards. The Danish frontman arguably still has a great deal to offer, for even in the eyes of his most ardent critics, Bendtner always had something special about his overall game.

It’s just a shame that his proposed talent never quite manifested itself whilst playing for Arsenal on a frequent and regular basis. The striker was accused of having an overinflated ego during his spell at the Emirates, which may have gone some way in explaining just why he never quite hit the lofty heights many were seemingly expecting.

Although the 29-year-old centre-forward has since developed into something of a well-worn joke among the wider European game in general, such an unwanted status remains subject to change. If Bendtner can continue tearing it up among the ongoing Norwegian game, maybe we will finally begin to witness the fullest extent of his goal-scoring capabilities.

Bendtner, who was given a chance to prove his fitness but ultimately left out of the 23-man squad by coach Age Hareide due to doubts over his ability to recover from a groin injury, is already back playing for his club side Rosenborg in Norway.

“It’s not what I expected would happen, that things would turn out the way they did,” Bendtner told the Rosenborg website.

“There are many feelings that go through you, but like everything in life you have to move on, and I have to do that too,” the 30-year-old said.

Though he wished his Danish team mates well before leaving the squad, Bendtner always believed that he would have been fit in time for Denmark’s opener against Peru on June 16.

Niklas Bendtner has been reported to the police by a Copenhagen taxi driver who claims the Danish football star was behind a violent attack early on Sunday.

The taxi driver had undergone surgery for a broken jaw, a spokesman for taxi firm Dantaxa told Reuters.

Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet cited unnamed sources saying Bendtner was arrested early on Sunday, charged with violence, but later released by the police.
